This Cherry Rattle is rather unique. The grain is beautiful and there was a lot of worm holes on it’s surface. I decided to leave them be and place stone inlay into them resulting in a very nice pleasing natural pattern! I used two favorite inlays: adobe colored Pipestone and blue-green Peruvian Chrysocolla. It has a great hand feel to it, very solid.
The 2 inch ‘Martin’ gourd retains it’s naturally mottled color, is filled with popcorn and topped with a tiny Cedar dowel. The sound is louder, crisp, bright and outgoing.
